1908 (20 May) LANDING STAGE / LIVERPOOL / * cds on EDVII 1s green and carmine with large part of the cancel showing LANDING STAGE postmark type M18 (TPO & Seapost reference),. The floating stage was constructed in 1879 until 1955 and allowed large transatlantic liners from America mooring directly on the landing stage where a post office was setup on the pier to cancel mail received at the last moment for posting on the last mail ship to leave. Three cancels are known for this purpose. Small thin at top. Hard to find.

AR AR OHMS printed on the reply side (AR means avis de reception, a term used by the UPU), with Hargraves trade h/s oval violet, and EARL's COURT CDS, folded and few minor marks or bends otherwise very pretty.

Some light tones and couple of dog eared corners.
