1918 Portuguese Nyassa (1911) REPUBLICA set of 12 to 500r each centrally pre-cancelled by mostly very fine NYASALAND FF2 squared circle of FPO 2 of the Nyasaland-Rhodesia field force at Mtangula. 207 such sets of 12 were issued as a means of accounting between the FPO and Portuguese post office. Dates are FE 2 18, FE25 18, MR 1 18. Extremely scarce. A remarkable episode of philatelic history.
