1838 Entire Letter Charlestown USA to Greenock, Scotland sent per Steamer Great Western leaving New York 20th April to Bristol with two line BRISTOL / SHIP LETTER in black on obverse, various chargemarks, various filing folds. The Great Western steamer left Bristol on 8th April 1838 arriving in New York on 15th April. This cover was on the first outward bound mail from New York and only took half the time sailing ships would make to cross the Atlantic. Scarce.

1943 MAUTHAUSEN Concentration Camp - Printed letter sheet sent by a POW written half in German and the other half in Czech to Lysov Czech. dated on March 7th 1943. Message relates to well wishes and personal messages addr to Dear Eliska explaining they are well and your husband sends many greetings and kisses. Various faults and tears bearing 1.20k Hitler adhs tied MAUTHAUSEN cds. This camp mainly housing political prisoners.

Only a few dozen known to have been carried on the dual trip.
