1891 (11 May) Fifth Mail Cover to Newcastle On Tyne, UK carried on the Karnak. Bearing ½d surcharge on half 1d red-brown tied along with 4d olive grey-black tied with 'First Bisect' cork cancel (Barnes 1/90) correctly used in the period for the 4½d rate to UK and tied alongside FALKLAND ISLANDS double ring cds and red pencil 14 along side (another provisional cover has black pencil 13 so this corroborates sequential records). NORTH EASTER T.P.O. UP transit cds on obv. Taken from an old album page pencilled Bought from SG in 1947 for £30. No other provenance. Taken 'as is'.
