Post Offices in Turkish Empire: 1910 Wove paper 10 PARA on 2k green in mint complete sheet of 100 plate 1, two sheets come with this lot, includes marginal rules, margins are wrinkles and slightly torn in places, stamps are mainly fine, hard to find in complete sheets, SG 51 Cat £80.

Siberian: American / Anglo Coalition: 1918-19 North Russian Expeditionary Force 1918 Operation Polar Bear OHS unstamped tatty envelope to UK bearing clear strike of ARMY POST OFFICE / A/ 28 NO / 18 / P.B.1 sent by an English soldier via the British Military Post Office. Despite the Armistice on Nov 11 1918 1000s of British & American and other allied troops were sent to Murmansk Harbour to fight the bolsheviks and an offensive action to link up the Trans Siberian Railroad. The troops were confused as Armistice had been announced but they were expected to continue fighting on into 1919. by British & American ambassadors, there was never a war declared between these forces and the bolsheviks and yet battles were still being fought. The fighters were known as Polar Bears, hence the APO cds P.B.1. (Polar Bear 1). Rare military postal cover.
