1955 (8 Feb) Regd airmail cover (faults) sent from a Corporal at the Police Training School based in Freetown from PTS Hastings addr to a Shoe manufacturer in UK. Bears 3d & 6d pair tied HASTINGS cds cancels, Sent by a corporal Bendugu, No.1223, PTS Hastings, Freetown S. Leone. This was sent the day before the general strike was announced over wage increases, where over the next few days local police and British Troops shot and killed 20 people and dozens of others injured to quell the civil unrest.
