1848 Interesting reused cover to R W Maxwell at Middleton Hall Uphall, Scotland bearing 1d imperf tied barred numeral, then resent to Capt. Hill Knutsford, Cheshire with a further 1d imperf cancelled in Scotland, Capt Hill was a Battle of Waterloo veteran who lived at King St charged a peppercorn rent from Lord Egerton for his military efforts. Captain Hill was Elizabeth Gaskell's inspiration for her novel of the fictional character Captain Brown's House at King St, Knutsford. Fascinating cover.
