1855 (11 Apr) Printed OHMS - ROWLAND HILL printed form filling re a missing registered letter to America sent from London to Newton Abbot with PAID red CDS and arrival arc d/s, two printed on GPO Secretary orange embossed paper that,a full inquiry has been made in this country for the missing letter addressed to Mr Richd Tothill (part torn) refereed to in your application without success.... The American Post Office has been written to on the subject and as soon as a reply is received a further communication shall be made to you Rowland Hill (printed) and signed Mr Charles Langley, faults but interesting letter. From 1839 a missing letter branch was formed to investigate missing or stolen letters over 500 indexed cases 1854-56 were recorded, hence the form is acknowledged by the Secretary to the GPO Rowland Hill and must be very scarce.

1860-70 Original Correspondence mostly to India bearing nice surface printed combinations and good range of postmarks and transit or arrival backstamps, noted Tunbridge Wells 6d & 3d combns (2), 1857 with 4d rose pair and 1d star, 1s pl.4 & 1d pl.122, 6d lilac on three covers then 1881 2½d blue on two covers to Canada, very mixed condition but high cat value all the same. Prepaid with 1d rose-red and 6d pale lilac, both neatly tied '666' numerals with RYDE cds below for Feb 14th 1862 alongwith REGISTERED LONDON regd oval alongside (struck twice) and arrival backstamp on reverse.

1863-64 An original French correspondence from East London to Paris written in French. 26 Entire Letter folded horizontally across each letter for filing each bearing 4d red (hairlines) tied mainly numeral cancels for LONDON EC 72, 73, 74, 75, 76, 78, 80, 81 89, 90 (on a pair), 91, 92, E/11, E/12, E/17, S/16. Mainly fine used with French arrival backstamps. Nice original lot, huge cat value of £7800 on cover (Rated £300 each in SG). SG 81/2. (26).
