1886 (Sep 23) Large piece from an official registered envelope, showing (HER M) AJESTY's SERVICE, franked with 1885-7 2d pale bistre horiz. pair and 6d reddish purple (two horizontal strips of 4), tied MAFEKING BECHUANALAND cds. The 5th stamp showing missing dot to I variety (pos 57, left hand pane). Somewhat stained, faded and creased, still a rare and remarkable item. SG 2/2a. Cat £900 mint. 1982 BPA Certificate.
