1581 Scalzini Il Secretario, Venice, ca. 1581 manuscript sheet with a fancy border written in ink by Marcello Scalzini, being a guide on proper posture and physical positioning when writing, advises to keep chest a certain distance from the table, keep arms positioned according to table's distance and to maintain a straight head, aligning the centre of the paper with the body. Panel measures 23cm x 17cm and is affixed at the corner by white adhesive strips, some foxing. Numbered sixteen from a book. Entire books of 41 manuscripts fetch in excess of €2000.
