Boer War: 1900 LADYSMITH SIEGE POST OFFICE / Feb 13th, 1900 violet two line handstamp on envelope sent to Major Ludlow bearing Natal 1d rose addr to W.A.A.L.S, S.E. DISTRICT with a covering letter from Major Ronald Ludlow written from Belfast 1902 to Major Gen Wavell, Commander of the British Forces. Letter contents apologising for not sending the 'Siege stamp' before, the town was divided into different districts for postal purposes hence the S.E. District on the enclosed envelope, the stamp is quite genuine and the die was broken up on the day of the relief. Interesting provenance. Some toning but not seen the light of day for over 100 years.
